Tree aerial inspection involves the use of specialized equipment and techniques to assess the health, structure, and condition of trees from an elevated position. Instead of relying solely on ground-level observations, aerial assessments provide a different perspective and at times allow arborists to evaluate trees in a more detailed or specific manner.
Our arborists can use rope and climbing techniques or elevated work platforms (EWP) to access trees.

From the elevated position, we can conduct -

Visual Inspection:

Visually inspect the tree canopy, branches, trunk, and other tree components. They look for signs of decay, disease, pests, structural issues, deadwood, or any other potential problems that may not be easily visible from the ground.

Canopy Assessment:

Aerial assessments allow arborists to evaluate the overall health and vitality of the tree’s canopy, including foliage density, colour, and signs of stress or decline. They can identify dead or dying branches, irregular growth patterns, or potential hazards that may require pruning or removal.

Structural Evaluation:

The arborist assesses the tree’s structural integrity, paying attention to branch attachments, potential weak points, or areas of concern that may require further investigation or remedial action. They look for cracks, splits, or signs of mechanical damage that may impact the tree’s stability.

Documentation:

Arborists document their findings during the aerial assessment, taking photographs or video recordings to provide a visual record of the tree’s condition. These records serve as a reference for future evaluations, monitoring changes over time, or for sharing information with property owners, managers, local councils, or other stakeholders.
Tree aerial assessments are particularly useful when dealing with tall trees or areas with limited accessibility. They enable arborists to gather valuable advanced information and make informed decisions regarding tree care, maintenance, or potential risk mitigation measures. By combining ground-level observations with aerial assessments where necessary, arborists can obtain a comprehensive understanding of tree health and condition, contributing to effective tree management.
